<p>We as human beings have this incredible tool at our disposal&#8230; choice. You get to choose what you think, how you feel, what your experience is, what your results are and how you want your life to look.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>It&#8217;s funny how we know that, intellectually, yet we still choose to feel crappy, think negative thoughts, choose less than ideal experiences, receive less than stellar results and go into survival mode instead of really truly living.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Think about it&#8230;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Have you ever thought the following: &#8220;Everyone in my family has excess weight so I will too.&#8221;  Or, &#8220;Once you reach a certain age you gain weight.&#8221;  Is that the life you want to live?</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>I have heard countless stories of how stressful planning a wedding is and yet I still choose not to believe that as my truth. The truth is, there are people who are stressed, and there are people who aren&#8217;t.. guess which one I am choosing to be? You have the same power with your weight.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Take an inventory of the thoughts and beliefs you have around weight&#8230; and ask yourself this question towards each one of those thoughts:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong><em>Is this 100% true across the board for every person on the planet?</em></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If the answer is NO, then it doesn&#8217;t have to be your truth&#8230; it&#8217;s a choice. My advice, choose a better feeling thought, one that actually reflects the life you want to live. Begin designing the life you truly desire and watch it unfold. You are that powerful. Happy living!</td>

<p>What if your weight gain was a 24 hour thing? Really think about it&#8230; if you gained 25 lbs and you knew with as much certainty, like how you know the sun will come up tomorrow, that it was only a 24 hour thing?  And when you woke up the next morning it would be gone&#8230; would you care?</p>
<p>The reason why I post this question is because it proves a very important point.. most of you (or perhaps all of you) don&#8217;t actually  believe that your weight gain is temporary. There is a belief deep down inside of you (stemming from a place of fear) that this weight thing is forever. And that is a problem, let&#8217;s talk about why:</p>
<p>1. If your belief deep down is that your weight gain is forever, then your unconscious mind is not able to grasp an alternate reality. If you believe that, then you confirm it by standing in front of the mirror and saying, &#8220;Yep, this is the way it is!&#8221; Then your unconscious mind says, &#8220;I guess this is the way it is.&#8221;</p>
<p>2. If you believed it was temporary, you would take very different actions. If you knew your weight gain was even a 7 day fluke, would you diet, punish, force, etc? Of course not! You would say this is all going to be gone in a week so I might as well enjoy life.</p>
<p>3.Your stress levels are much higher when you believe your current reality (which you don&#8217;t particularly like) is your forever reality. It is stressful to imagine a life where you never truly have everything you want.</p>
<p>4. Your power is given up to your weight when it is forever. If you believed it was temporary, you wouldn&#8217;t give weight any power at all. It wouldn&#8217;t mean anything because it&#8217;s not something you have to deal with, it&#8217;s just something that &#8220;is&#8221; for the time being.</p>
<p>5. Your identity becomes &#8220;overweight.&#8221; I talk a lot about the importance of your identity when it comes to weight. If you believe it is forever, you are taking on an identity that isn&#8217;t truly you. You don&#8217;t have to live the rest of your life with excess weight, however you will if you believe that&#8217;s just who you are.</p>
<p>So the bottom line is, you have got to start believing this is a temporary gig, just part of the journey, one step to get to the next step. Treat it no different than you would treat any other small life challenge that comes along to teach you something. Thank your excess weight for showing up to teach you something you didn&#8217;t know about yourself and then begin imagining what your life will be like when you remove it forever.</p>

You know when you reallllly want something, you know you need it, but for some reason you are too afraid to do it? Afraid because it costs money that you don&#8217;t have, afraid because it means you will have to change, afraid because it means you will have to shift your identity to play even a bigger game in this life, or afraid of whatever fears you have developed on your life journey. The crazy thing is, when you finally jump, and make that decision, despite all the fears, you feel a hell of a lot better!&nbsp;</p>
<p>When I decided to start my business I felt this way, when I hired my first employee, I felt this way, when I invested in the food psychology coaching program that started this incredible journey as a weight loss coach, I felt this way, when I started my second business, I felt this way, when I went into debt to take my business to the next level&#8230; you get it right?</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This is all part of growth, and the truth is, you will never fully step into that new identity, that person who lives naturally thin, until you make that decision. And I can tell you right now, it&#8217;s not going to feel all peachy and keen, it&#8217;s probably going to make you want to throw up, run and hide, and bite all your nails off. Every time I have felt this way, I have had a massive up leveling. Meaning I stepped closer and closer to my absolute truth, my true identity.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>I bring all of this up because when you want to lose weight you are going to have to make a decision. When it feels this scary, you know it&#8217;s the right one. Remember, Napolean Hill says, &#8220;<em>Opportunity</em> often comes <em>disguised</em> in the form of <em>misfortune</em>, or temporary defeat,&#8221; so don&#8217;t be fooled. You need to make a decision that you are losing weight, decide on the path you will take to get there (<a href="http://click.icptrack.com/icp/rclick.php?d=cM1GvV4qrkYYm9EggljiwW9jrudEjpI4&amp;destination=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.timedriver.com%2FN8WZQ">this is what our complimentary weight loss breakthrough sessions are for</a>) and then line up behind your decision. This is how you get incredible results and never look back, a true identity shift into who you know you are supposed to be.</p>

Weight is just communication&#8221; often, so lets really clarify this statement.</p>
<p>Our unconscious minds cannot knock on the inside of us and say &#8220;Hey will you please work less, I&#8217;m exhausted in here!&#8221; So it communicates to you in pictures, sounds and feelings. In this example it would most likely be feelings. Feeling of fatigue, muscle soreness, physical pain or perhaps irritability. Each person will have different cues.</p>
<p>The body does the same thing (and actually your mind and your body are one in the same). So when your body wants you to change something it often communicates through body sensations, and what better way to grab your attention then to start storing fat. And if you react to this new found fat storage on your body by changing something immediately, now you have just confirmed to your body that this is an effective way to get you to wake up and change something. Unfortunately, most people begin changing in ways that will never actually get weight off their body.</p>
<p>Here is a great example I recently experienced.</p>
<p>I absolutely love my work. I love helping people lose weight with Total Body Health Solutions and I love supporting business owners with my mentorship with Kelly O&#8217;Neil. Both of these businesses are fantastic and fulfilling, however they require a lot of time and attention. Like many before me, I fell into the workaholic trap very quickly.</p>
<p>I would wake up and read my emails on my phone when I could barely see, skip yoga to begin working early, work until 7 or 8 at night skipping any opportunity to play guitar or sing and then numb out on the couch watching TV because I was so exhausted nothing else sounded good. It didn&#8217;t take very long for my body to start communicating to me that something had to change.</p>
<p>My stomach started to look different, more fat storage. I broke out in a stress rash on my stomach and I started getting bug bites on my stomach. Immediately I knew what I needed to do. I knew I had to stop reading emails first thing and now go directly into the living room for yoga. I do not work past 6:00 because if I do I can&#8217;t get work off my mind and it effects my sleep. Lastly. I signed up for guitar lessons so I would have accountability to stop working and practice at a certain time each day.</p>
<p>Just a week later, rash is clearing up, bug bites are gone and stomach has returned to it&#8217;s normal self. Listen to your body, it&#8217;s so incredibly intelligent. It responds immediately to your changes when you take the steps that the little voice  inside of you tells you to. That little voice inside of you doesn&#8217;t care for you to eat less and move more, it&#8217;s wants you to be 100% fulfilled and happy, whatever that means for you. I can assure you fulfillment does not look like restriction, force and punishment&#8230; just sayin!</p>

<p>The other night I was sleeping and this god awful sound came through my dream. It was this eery vibrating sound coming from the next room. Jackson (my dog) was perked up barking, I was perked up panicking as my mind conjured up 15 different scenarios of what it could be&#8230; ghosts, monsters, demons, ghouls.. you name it!</p>
<p>As Jackson and I began to realize that it wasn&#8217;t going to stop until we actually got up, we proceeded to get out of bed and walk towards this god awful sound. As I got closer, and the sound got louder, Nick (my boyfriend) passed us up and raced towards this sound.</p>
<p>Turns out, the electric toothbrush had taken on a mind of it&#8217;s own and wouldn&#8217;t stop until Nick physically took it apart. To this day this toothbrush will make wierd noises as we are enjoying dinner in the next room and we have no idea why.</p>
<p>Why am I telling you this story and what the heck does it have to do with weight loss? When I was becoming a Master NLP Practitioner we had to do an exercise where we asked our unconscious mind what we were supposed to learn from different emotions. Fear and worry have always been the emotions that dominate my life creating less than ideal situations.</p>
<p>When I asked my unconscious mind what I needed to learn from Fear the following answer came up:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>You Are Not Alone</strong></em></p>
<p>This might sound obvious to some of you, for me it was profound. It means that when I was scared, heart pumping out of my chest, walking toward the eery sound coming from the bathroom I wasn&#8217;t alone. Literally, my dog and boyfriend are in the other room and spiritually I am always being taken care of.</p>
<p>When I was driving down the 405 freeway, and was struck by 5 different cars at fast speeds and was able to walk out of there with a few scratches&#8230; I was not alone.</p>
<p>When you are losing weight, and when results are less than stellar, we tend to feel really alone. The truth is, you&#8217;re never alone. The sooner you can surrender to the process, and allow your higher self, source, spirit, god whatever you refer to, the sooner you can begin to enjoy the ride of your weight loss process.</p>
<p>When you feel like the world is on your shoulders and it is up to you to remove this weight all by yourself&#8230; good luck! On this Thursday, I am here to remind you that you are never alone. The sooner you can accept that, the sooner you can move towards peace in your body.</p>

The Truth About Weight Loss</a></p><p>Their are some nasty rumors out there about how weight loss works. I know, I know I have talked about this to pure exhaustion! Don&#8217;t worry this is not another article slamming the dieting industry (although it is tempting).</p>
<p>I want to get down and dirty about the truth of weight loss. When my clients work with me we move through a 5-step system together to create their personal weight loss action plan. These 5 steps are the reasons why I was able to lose weight enjoying all the foods I love and moving my body with love and joy.</p>
<p>This my friends, is the truth about weight loss:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Visioning and Clarity.</strong> Your mind does not process words; it process pictures, sounds and feelings. This means you can say, &#8220;I want to lose weight&#8221; to absolute exhaustion and it won&#8217;t help. You must be able to see your weight loss desires in your mind with absolute clarity. You must be able to hear the incredible remarks from family members, friends and co-workers. Lastly you have got to feel how incredible it feels to have reached your goal weight and be living the life of your dreams.</li>
<li><strong>Decompress from Stress.</strong> Life is stressful at times. I totally get that, trust me, I get that. Although you don&#8217;t have complete control over what happens externally in your life, you have complete control over your own thoughts. <strong>In my opinion this is the #1 contributor to weight gain</strong> and you there is no excuse for not changing your thoughts immediately. This is the easiest way to alleviate low level chronic stress and also the easiest way to release that stubborn weight.</li>
<li><strong>Claim Personal Power</strong>. Weight gain is an incredible gift to cause you to step up and live more life. Where are you not stepping up? What are you not doing that you know you need to do? How often are you just living your life on auto-pilot? You must take control, grab those reins baby because this is your life!</li>
<li><strong>Connect with Food.</strong> There is a belief out there that we overeat because we have big appetites or we love food to much. <strong>I&#8217;ve got news for you I LOVE food and so do all your friends that are naturally thin</strong>. Overeating is about lack of control and when we connect with food we actually grab control back and live from choice again. We decide we want pizza, the pizza doesn&#8217;t decide it needs to be eaten by us. Make sense? It is imperative that you heal your relationship with food so that food is just food.</li>
<li><strong>Flow to Your Ideal Body.</strong> Check in with yourself right now and ask why it is that you exercise? If anything along the lines of <em>&#8220;because I have to&#8221;</em> comes up, it&#8217;s time to re-evaluate your relationship with exercise. Movement is a natural desire of the body and you need to move the way you would move if you were already at your goal weight. Remember, how you do anything is how you do everything!</li>
</ol>
<p>So that my friends is the down and dirty truth about weight loss. Not so scary right? I bet you were expecting me to tell you that you just have to master willpower, or really control those portions, didn&#8217;t you? That my friend is a convenient distraction of where you truly need to be focusing&#8230; don&#8217;t fall into the trap.</p>

<p>February comes and it starts to die&#8230; all of a sudden we find ourselves skipping the gym, overeating in the evenings again and that high from last month, is gone.</p>
<p>When my clients work privately with me I tell them that their weight loss desires have to be stronger than their fears of change. A client the other day asked me how to make sure this happens for her. We started to brainstorm why she lost motivation in the past and what her real reason for weight loss is. The truth is there are some specific guidelines to follow to ensure this January motivation isn&#8217;t just a flook. You interested??</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Avoid External Motivation Sources.</strong> ie. to look good in a bathing suit, so my husband thinks I am sexy, so I beat my co-worker at the weigh in&#8230; The problem with external motivations is that once they are gone, they&#8217;re gone. You will find yourself moving backwards quickly once you achieve this milestone. Eventually you will run out, and then what? So you get into the bikini&#8230; now what? Unfortunately when people reach the goal (if they are able to push through that long) they go back to old habits because in their mind they are done.</li>
<li><strong>Find Your Bigger Why.</strong> A lot of our world is overweight to some degree. I truly have no issue with that. However, there is a difference between someone that has excess weight and is searching for the answer and someone who has quite frankly given up. My clients are the people who are searching for solutions. Why? Because there is a deep (and I think spiritual reason) for their desire to lose weight. That motivation will never go away, it&#8217;s forever.</li>
<li><strong>The 80/20 Rule.</strong> If you know me at all you know I am all about the 80/20 rule. If you really know me you know that I would never track a calorie, fat gram, carbohydrate or sugar.. so I use this 80/20 term loosely. Basically what this means is that you are choosing a method of weight loss that is completely sustainable for life. If you cut out sugar 100% of the time and you love sugar, that will wear off. So eat sugar. Maybe you just don&#8217;t eat sugar before bed because that effects your sleep and maybe you only eat 2 cookies instead of 6 because 6 makes you feel sick.</li>
<li><strong>Get Extremely Curious.</strong> The biggest favor you can do yourself in January instead of getting on the weight loss band wagon is to get so incredibly curious. Make your goal to know yourself deeply. For example, I am aware of how specific foods make me feel, I am aware the minute I am getting sick or when my digestion is off. Why? Because I spent a lot of time getting curious about myself and my body. I listened when it talked (good or bad!)</li>
<li><strong>Remove Guilt for Losing Motivation.</strong> If you lose motivation for going to the gym or eating healthy or whatever New Years habit you adopted do not beat yourself up. There are a number of things going on here. First of all it could have been just plain unrealistic to maintain. Maybe you picked up an exercise routine that leaves you exhausted instead of excited or perhaps you took up raw food when your favorite food is pasta. Be flexible with yourself, you are a human being seeking pleasure. If every day is filled with some sort of pain it is only a matter of time before you give that up.</li>
</ol>
<p>The bottom line is my &#8220;weight loss routine&#8221; never changes. It&#8217;s always the same in the sense that I would do it at 100 lbs or 200 lbs. I would do it at home or on vacation. I would do it in January or December. Stacy is one of my star students who really understood what it means to lose weight while living your life.</p>
<p>Stacy wanted to figure out how to lose weight in a way that she could actually keep it off for life, not just another diet and this picture arrived in a card I received in the mail from her yesterday and I couldn&#8217;t be more proud.</p>
<p>Many of you will start to get that itch for transformation as January rolls around. Here are the 3 New Years Resolution Mistakes to Avoid to Ensure Maximum Results:</p>

<ol>
<li><strong>Going Back To Something You Tried Before</strong>: As January approaches most people will go back to the gym, go back to weight watchers, go back to Jenny Craig. The reason this happens is because there is a comfort there, it&#8217;s familiar territory. Here&#8217;s the thing, if you gained weight back after doing it, it didn&#8217;t work. Temporary results are not the answer, just a band-aid. <strong><em>Instead, scheduled some time with a weight loss coach who can help you uncover the true causes of weight gain in your body. (like us!)</em></strong></li>
<li><strong>Going From 0-60:</strong> Most people will go from doing nothing to doing everything. Therefore the mind feels abundance, restriction, abundance, restriction. This is a recipe for disaster. <em><strong>Instead, take baby steps and get really curious and attentive along the way. Ask yourself questions, am I enjoying this movement, am I enjoying this food, does this feel like something I can maintain for life.</strong></em></li>
<li><strong>Changing your Environment and Behaviors First:</strong> The tendency to lose weight is to start by changing your environment and behaviors first. These are very much external changes and are not truly making deep long lasting changes on the inside. These changes would look like, throwing away junk food, dragging out the treadmill, getting a gym membership, cooking more. <em><strong>Instead, before doing all of the things mentioned above, focus on changing your identity first. What does it mean to live naturally thin? What would a naturally thin person do? Then allow that new identity to dictate what changes to make in your environment and behavior.</strong></em></li>

<p>These are the 3 biggest mistakes I see people make when they make a decision to lose weight as the new year approaches. You can absolutely have the type of transformation Stacy did without dieting. It&#8217;s not a band-aid fix, it&#8217;s not temporary, and it&#8217;s definitely isn&#8217;t restrictive. For true weight loss results, you must begin your journey with the principle of More Life, and then you too will never look back.</p>

<p>Has anyone ever told you that before? I feel like everyone is so quick to &#8220;be realistic&#8221; they forget that reality doesn&#8217;t really exist. Your reality right now is based upon decisions you made in the past. If you continue to make decisions from the past, where do you think you will be in 6 months, 1 year, 10 years?</p>
<p>I always ask people, what&#8217;s going to happen if you don&#8217;t do something to change your current reality in 6 months? 9 out of 10 people say they will stay the same, that&#8217;s actually not true.</p>
<p>Change is constant in our universe. You are either growing or dying, you are never staying the same. If you don&#8217;t do something to change your current reality, you will be worse off in 6 months not the same.</p>
<p>Now I am not trying to scare anyone, I want you to change the way you look at reality. Start making decisions from a place of where you want to be. I don&#8217;t care if you have tried 72 diets, have a thyroid condition, broke your leg and can&#8217;t walk, you can lose weight, and you can lose weight during the holidays.</p>
<p>Think about it&#8230; The holidays rock! You are happy, you&#8217;re with friends and family, you are having fun, you are enjoying incredible foods, the wine and beer are flowing&#8230; this is a great time of the year to lose weight!</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t focus on how much to eat, what to cut out, which diet you should stay on. Focus on how amazing this time of the year feels and how your body will respond positively to that.</p>
<p>Eat slow, relaxed, taste every herb and spice. Don&#8217;t overeat because it wipes out the delicious experience and makes it negative. Go for the goal of enjoying conversation, wine and food and you don&#8217;t need to overeat because you can make all of these foods (or buy them) whenever you want.</p>
<p>Throw out reality unless it&#8217;s what you want and eat your Thanksgiving meal as if you are at your goal weight. You are not an over eater, you are not overweight, you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Have fun, enjoy and I can&#8217;t wait to hear your success stories as your pants get looser in December instead of tighter.</p>
